The Magnificent Hong Kong's Museum of Visual Culture Is Set To Take the World by Storm in 2021

The state-of-art Hong Kong's Museum of Visual Culture will be one of the magnificent buildings that will lay indelible marks on the construction and art industries in 2021. The construction of the M+ Museum begun in November 2014 in the West Kowloon Cultural District and it was set to open in 2017. While there have been delays in launching the museum due to ballooning budgets (from $2.8 billion to $9 billion) and management problems, the official opening of the Museum is likely to take place in the fall of this year.
Much of the management problems have been resolved and the physical construction of the project is nearly complete. All eyes are set for the official launch as the contractor is now finalizing on internal fittings and fixtures and installation of M+ collections.
Designed by Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron, the regal M+ museum is an architectural masterpiece covering 700,000 square feet that seeks to reinforce the West Kowloon's focus on 20th and 21sth century art, design, and moving image.
The M+ museum of visual culture contains two sections: the histories and the constellations. While the history sections explore the historical developments of design, the constellations highlight contemporary design narratives. Histories will feature sophisticated rooms designed to showcase the change of art and design through time in contexts of socioeconomic and political changes. It will feature major historical events in Asia ranging from the reign of Mao in China to Hong Kong's export boom era between the 1950s and 1980s.
The collections in M+ museums will document the past and the present while informing the future. With unique designs coupled with its location in a region designated for art and culture, the M+ museum creates a nexus between a diversity of perspectives and an interconnection of narratives.
The M+ museum is one of the biggest milestones in Hong Kong's plan to develop the West Kowloon Cultural District region as a hub for art and culture. When completed, the Cultural District will feature M+ Pavilion, the Xiqu Centre for Chinese opera, an Art Park, the Lyric Theatre, and the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
